Flashback Friday

Last weekend while I was home my mom made me go through all my bins from high school and college and throw away things that I really don't need. While going through these bins I came across a Costco envelope from days when you actually had to get your film developed in order to see what pictures you took. In this particular envelope were the following pictures... Totally random! I hope those pictured don't mind! Enjoy!

you're the next contestant on the Price is Right

When I was growing up I watched the Price is Right everyday I stayed home from school, and every morning of Summer. And every time the green doors opened and showed the contestant that they could win this....

I always felt SO bad for the contestant. I always thought "What a crummy prize". I REALLY felt bad when it was the "main" prize in the showcase showdown. Who knew they were so expensive.

I now think differently... if only we could win a brand new bedroom set I would kiss Bob Barker as well.

Kitchen Table!

We finally have a kitchen table!! My boss/associate/friend at re-did her kitchen and decided she wanted a new one, which meant we got one too! The darling chairs that came with it don't really do with our current decorations, so we are still sporting the Ikea chairs until we decide what we want. In the meantime we are just excited to have a table!! 

I'm not sure what I am going to do for a centerpiece yet, but the lovely jars will do for now! (Thanks Cari!)

A California Weekend

We went to California again this last weekend and we got to babysit Ava and Shea while Ashley and Christian went out for their 5th Anniversary. The little girls sure love their Uncle Andy!

Rice a Roni the San Francisco treat!

We had the opportunity to go to San Francisco this weekend and we had the best time. Our good friends Barbara and Jack Kiley have lived in San Francisco for 40+ years and they love to take visitors around the town. They have this darling guest apartment that they let us stay in and all weekend long they spoiled us and showed us sights some of the locals don't even know about!! Not only that, we ate at the best restaurants in town and it was all so yummy! Get ready for some pictures!** Disclaimer--I want to remember every bit of this vacation so prepare yourself for some details**

Day 1:

When we arrived in San Francisco we drove around Golden Gate Park. It was beautiful and so unique. You didn't even feel like you were in a city. We then ate at my new favorite restaurant, Beach Chalet.

Unfortunately, by the time we got through with dinner it was too dark for a picture. The food was amazing! We all got a separate dessert... I got my usual brownie sundae, but the new york cheescake and creme brule were also top contenders. By the time dinner was over we knew this was going to be a great vacation. After dinner we drove around Presidio and saw some of the most beautiful homes (one included Robin Williams). We then went to bed to get some rest for Day 2.

Day 2:

This was a busy day. It started off with Breakfast at the Chateau de Kiley with some Bronx style Bagels and cream cheese, fresh fruit and yummy orange juice. After we were full we headed to the Golden Gate Bridge and we walked across it. Yes, Andy walked across, crutches and all. He was a champ and although it was a little foggy, we didn't let it ruin our day.




We then headed to Muir Woods. I had never seen real Redwoods and was pleasantly surprised at how huge they were! This has always been something I wanted to see. Luckily, they leant Andy a wheelchair so he didn't have to crutch all the way around the park... however it was more like off-roading because 1. Wheelchairs do not have shocks and 2. The path wasn't straight across.


We were going to have a picnic after muir woods, but because the weather wasn't cooperating we decided to go to the Pelican Inn for lunch. It was this darling English Inn that has 7 rooms upstairs and a restaurant/pub downstairs. I of course loved it because it reminded me of London. Although it was completed in 1979, they made it looks very very old. Princess Diana and the Queen of England have stayed their and the food was amazing. I got the "English Dip Sandwich" --as opposed to a "French Dip Sandwich"-- it was delicious. We then drove down to Sausalito and saw all the darling homes on the hill.



Next up was a nap! We were exhausted. When we woke up we headed to Pier 39 to see the seals and walk around and be "Tourists". We then visited the cable car museum to see how the cable cars work--very interesting! We also drove down the Crookedest Street in the world!

For dinner we went to Tia Margaritas for some delicious mexican food. Barbara forewarned me that the dinner portions were huge and advised to go with the "lighter eater" portion. I did so, however, Andy wasn't so lucky. His eyes were bigger than his stomach and he got the biggest meal I have ever seen. He was a champ and ate a good portion of it.


Day 3: We woke up early and headed to the cable cars and took a ride on them down to the best breakfast place- The Buena Vista. They had the best sourdough bread toast. Yummy!



After breakfast we went to several different historical sites in the city. They had a holocaust memorial that depicted a time in our world's history. It was very carefully done and I enjoyed walking through the park it was located in.

We also saw some fun views of the Golden Gate Bridge.


Next up-- Mitchell's ice cream! It was delicious and was so creamy!

We then went to see the Painted Ladies.. Full House anyone?

We did some shopping at Union Square, and headed home to freshen up for our anniversary dinner. The Kiley's were so kind to take us to a restaurant called Spinnaker. It is located in Sausalito and is in the bay overlooking the entire San Francisco landscape as well as Sausalito. The view was amazing, and the food was delicious. The fish was so fresh and delectable.

Unfortunately, our vacation had to come to an end. We left this morning and are already looking forward to when we can visit again. Thank you so much Kileys, we loved every minute of our time in San Francisco.

1 year Anniversary!

On Sunday we will be celebrating our 1 year annviersary. I am posting early because we are leaving for a mini vacation to...

Tomorrow to celebrate!

Andy has never been to San Francisco, and we thought we should travel now before we have kids.

In our first year of marriage we have:
1. Moved 3 times
2. Left the country
3. Graduated College
4. Had knee surgery
5. Had 4 nieces/nephews born.

Talk about an eventful year!

Quite the week!!

This has been a fun filled weekend/week. I think the most exciting thing it I finally finally finally perfected my bow-making skills!!! I always ask my mom what she thinks, and she always says, "It's cute"... which means, keep trying. TOnight she said, "It seriously looks professional"..that is the best comment I could ask for. I'm so mad because it took me 7 bows to make it perfect and I used all my favorite colors to learn. But at least I can buy more ribbon and hopefully start selling them!!

I tried to get Ava to model the bow for me and she instead wanted to pose... sorry for the horrible photography I was laughing so hard I couldn't concentrate. It was the funniest thing, every time I said "Smile" she did a different pose.. funny girl




Today I had to say goodbye to this sweet girl, I can't wait to see her in a few weeks.



I also had to say goodbye to this little girl. Here is Ava carrying in her new tea set to have a tea party with her new sister.


Andy and I are sad to go back to the heat, but we will be back in two more weeks!

Introducing Shea Larsen

For the past 2 weeks I wake up every morning and look at my phone to make sure Ashley didn't call and she went into labor. Of course she called at 10:30 am on Saturday morning and when I saw the missed call I just thought "Oh I'll call her back later" and didn't think a thing of it. After a few minutes I started flipping out and ran back to my phone and sure enough her water had broke. Andy and I drove to California first thing Sunday morning to meet this precious little one.





I had the opportunity to stay at the hospital last night with Ashley and it was so fun to talk, watch gymnastics and play with Shea all night long. Although I was a little disappointed in how we did in gymnastics, I think they can pull it off. Thanks Ash for letting me spend time with you and baby Shea.

Adventures in Babysitting

This weekend Andy and I are babysitting two of our favorites kiddos Robby and Veronica. Whenever someone says "Babysitting" I always think of my favorite childhood movie--Adventures in Babysitting!


It kind of makes me sad to think of this movie because Trevor and I LOVED watching it together, it was our favorite movie. It is a great classic that I might have to rent this weekend. I'm sure we will have many tales from our adventures in babysitting after the weekend, wish us luck!

California Weekend

This past weekend we went to California in hopes that baby Shea would come and for my dad's birthday...but she didn't. We still had a great time playing the 75 degree weather. We were lucky to have Cari and Bostyn come with us and we all had a blast at the beach and shopping.

For my dad's birthday my mom put a bonfire together. We had saltwater corn (You take actual ocean water and put it in a pot, boil it and throw in corn on the cob... it is salty and yummy)Thanks Dallas for swimming in the ocean to fetch the water!


Ava and Bostyn had the best time feeding each other cupcakes and building sand castles, gotta love two year olds!


Sorry we didn't take more pictures... we had the best time and can't wait for Cari and Bostyn to come down with us again!
