Cabo Day 3 & 4

Days  3 & 4 have been a bit eventful. Yesterday morning Dallas woke up with a horrible stomach ache... in a few hours it turned in to an even more painful ache in his right side. We all thought it was his appendix so we raced to the American Emergency room. Let's just say that even though it said "American" on the outside it wasn't really "American". After they tried to get the IV a few times they were finally successful. After many hours they found out it was just a horrible case of Montezuma's revenge. He hasn't been able to eat, but thank goodness he didn't need surgery! So Day 3 we just hung out at home and went back and forth between the house and the Hospital.

Today Lucas was in this adorable tank top (I was obessed) and instead of changing him into his bathing suit we just let him swim in his outfit. He loved the raft. If I wasn't so paranoid of him getting suburned I would let him swim all day.
Since Lucas is getting some teeth his sleeping has been a tad off kilter. So naturally we have all been tired... I love the picture of Lucas and I because it caught Lucas in the action of pulling out his binkie- so naughty!
The house we are staying at has this really cool fire pit. Tonight we made some S'mores and we all loved them. All the Marshmallows come with white and pink and to our surprise the pink are strawberry flavored--they were yummy! I think it is safe to say that Shea and Ava LOVED their S'Mores. Ava roasted (burned) marshmallow after marshmallow and kept giving them to Grandpa... luckily he loves burned mallows!
Tomorrow is a relaxing day at the Spa for the girls... can't wait for a facial and body scrub, stay tuned!

Cabo Day 1 & 2

With my parents leaving in June we decided to take one last family vacation. Since we will be here for a week I want to post everyday so I can remember all the things that happen each day.

In typical Bruce family fashion the house we are staying in is amazing! The pool has a beach style degree entrance and overlooks the ocean. It is perfect!

A few years ago when we stayed in Cabo we asked a hotel employee if he were to take his family out to eat where would he go. He told us "Taqueria Erika" in San Jose. We ventured out and it was very authentic, but SO yummy. It has ever since been a favorite when we visit Cabo. When we landed we headed straight to Taqueria Erika. The menu is on the red poster board. They are known for their baked potatoes covered in meat and cheese. You get salsa and torillas with it to make your own tacos. It is SO good and authentic-- just make sure not to order the Lengua de Vaca, aka Cow Tongue!
This was Lucas' first time in a pool. He LOVED it. It was just like a big bath tub and he would kick and scream the entire time.
This is "The Office" and it is too die for Mexican food. It is the best and I was SO excited for Andy to finally taste of its goodness. Ever since we have met I have talked about the tacos and the office and today he finally got to eat some, and I think it is safe to say he loved it. Funny Story- So these mariachi guys walk around waiting for someone to call you over to sing (and naturally tip). I didn't get the memo that we were ignoring them so when they walked by I said "La Cucaracha" and everyone said in unison "You have to tip them!".... unfortunately I didn't have my wallet so Grandma Tracy had to tip them... but I got to play the drums with them. Oops!

Last night we went to dinner at La Golandrina or the Original Trailer Park. It has by far the best seafood and they are especially known for their lobster--they are huge! Let's just say I will be going on a major diet after dinner at La Golandrina. I had four desserts--Bread Pudding, Chocolate cake with ice cream, bananas flambe, and oreo cheesecake. They were all amazing, but my favorite was the bread pudding. This was after a tostada salad, soup, garlic bread, and the best grilled mahi mahi.

We are having the best time just being together as a family and spending time before we are separated for 3 years. It's time for Phase 10 Twist.... until next time!

5 Months Old

Today Lucas turned 5 months! This month has seriously flown by. We didn't have a ton of time for a monthly photo shoot--so here are just a few from the park. I am hoping to get some great ones this week in Cabo.

The Monkey behind Lucas is a "Pillow Pet". They are a Bruce Family Favorite and Lucas has finally started to like his.
Lucas and his daddy...they are good friends. I am chop liver whenever dad is around.
Just a cute close-up. Lucas' eyes are still brown. I am still holding out that he will end up with Andy's eyes, but Auntie Ashley's beautiful brown eyes wouldn't be so bad either :-)

Some things I want to remember about the past month:
- We started solids and Lucas LOVES them, especially Squash.
- Lucas has mastered rolling over from back-to-belly and belly-to-back
- He now sleeps on his tummy, unswaddled and is MUCH happier and a 10+ hour sleeper
- Giggles nonstop, loves it when you blow raspberries on his tummy, and knows his name
- Loves his Johnny Jumper....will jump all day long if we let him
- I think he is getting his first tooth... but then again I don't know much.

We can't believe Lucas has been in our lives for 5 months and can't remember life without him. Love you little monkey!

Some recent changes....

We have had some recent changes in the Coons Household... We bought a house! The past few days have been spent packing, cleaning and moving. Although not everything is in order, we are almost there.

We bought the home out of foreclosure at the beginning of March and it needed some work, and by some, I mean LOTS! Luckily, I have a very patient and sweet husband who knows a thing or two about home improvement projects. Andy has been working on it since March and after many long days and nights we finally were able to move in. The house was in such bad condition that Andy wouldn't even let me see it until he had ripped out all the carpet, tile, pony walls and bathrooms. Here are a few before pictures:

Since everything isn't moved in just yet I am just going to show a few "Afters" of my favorite parts of the house....

The Kitchen- We made our first dinner tonight: BBQ Chicken, Corn on the cob, rolls and a side salad. Yummo! I LOVED the oven and stove.

A few details on the kitchen that I love: Subway tile, granite counters, and drawer pulls
The Banister: Andy put this in by himself... it is beautiful and gives the house such an open feeling.

Here is the Landing Area: I love the hardwood floors, all the doors, and the baseboards.

Those are all the pictures for now... coming soon are the bathroom before and after. We are so excited to have a place we can call home. I am never moving again because I do not like the moving process so I guess it's a good thing I love this house so much!
