What a sad sad day...

I probably write Chick-fil-a once a month with a different name/email begging for them to open one in Nevada. Today I had this in my inbox...

Dear Mrs. Coons:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Chick-fil-A. You are very important to us, and we appreciate your interest in seeing a Chick-fil-A Restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada. We hope the following information will be helpful.

At this time, our records do not indicate development plans for a Chick-fil-A Restaurant in your requested area. Although we would like to accommodate all location requests, our Chick-fil-A Restaurant new opening locations are determined through market research and analysis. Currently, our focus for expansion includes Southern California and the Chicago market. We hope to add additional markets for expansion in the next five years. Please continue to visit www.chick-fil-a.comand select the "Restaurant Opening" tab at the top of the screen to see where new Chick-fil-A's are opening. We appreciate your input.

Again, thank you for your time and interest in Chick-fil-A.

Sincerely,

Timothy

Chick-fil-A CARES

5 YEARS! We need one NOW! At least I visit Southern California often so I can eat it there, but still. Our time will come.

First Haircut

Today we took Lucas for his first real haircut. I have been trimming his mullet for a few months and Mommys salon wasn't doing the trick anymore.

We made an appointment at Snip 'n Clip and off we went.

Before:
Liz was our stylist and she did a fantastic job! We will definitely return to see her again. Lucas did NOT want to sit in the car, and he did NOT want the cape. So instead daddy held him and was covered in hair afterwards. Who knew Lucas had so much hair? I was astonished at the amount that came off! The best part was they had TV's at every station and we got to choose what we watched. Lucas chose Baby Einstein and it did the trick.
During:

We tried to get a decent "after" picture for the certificate, but this is all we got.

When we got home we took a bath because haircut + sucker = a huge sticky mess. Lucas had hair stuck all over. After his bath we took a few picture to debut his new do. So slandsome!
No more mullet! He looks like such a big boy!
Apparently so excited about Frog in the Kitchen Sink:
And we can't forget Bizzy-boo. She got a haircut today too! With the weather getting warmer she needed a little trim. They practically shaved her and now she is even greyer, but she is prancing around like she owns the place.

I think Mommy is next in the haircut department!

Mr Independent

Tonight our Relief Society held a celebration to celebrate the beginning of Relief Society. I had been wanting to go, but Andy is gone every night this week with class and I did not want to take Lucas. A few hours before the event I was told that they would be holding babysitting so moms could come and enjoy without their kids. I was excited and got dressed. I was a little nervous to drop Lucas off at Nursery because no one besides family has ever watched him. Lucas saw the toys and didn't look back. He could care less that mom was gone. He played with the toys, played with the cute young women watching them and had the time of his life. I kept checking on him and he just played to his hearts content. When did my baby turn into Mr Independent? When the night was over I went to pick him up and I had envisioned him running to me, so excited I was back. NOPE! He waved, said "hi" and kept playing.

I guess I shouldn't be nervous about sending him to Nursery in 3 months.

I have to say, although I was a little sad he didn't "need" me, it was nice to sit with such sweet sisters in the ward, chat over a delicious dinner and dessert and enjoy adult talk. :-) I am continually grateful to be in such an amazing ward with good friends that I can count on, and hopefully they can count on me. It was also a plus that we won the purse game... Good job ladies!

My Sweet Boy!

I know all I blog about it Lucas, but he really is so sweet. When we go and get him from his crib in the morning he stands up and says, "Hi!" and starts waving. We go downstairs for some bananas and cereal and watch some Mickey Mouse. It is the perfect start to any day.

It has been chilly the past few days, but this morning it warmed up a little bit. So when I said to Lucas, "Outside?" he went running to the back door. He was being so silly I couldn't pass up a little photo-op.

Looking in his rear view
I guess he needed some fresh air :-)
It cracks me up how he is such a "boy". He LOVES sticks, digging, getting in the dirt, anything that is "boy". We have these holes in our backyard for poles and Lucas LOVES to put his hand in, put things in just to dig them out. Today I caught him in the act!
Of course he found the balls
I can't believe he is 15 months! Just three more until we are old enough for Nursery! We love this little boy and he is the sweetest thing. Just something I want to remember-- Lucas and I play this game where when I sit on the floor I say, "Come get Mama" and he comes running full speed and tackles me. Today after the 10th time my abs were burning so I didn't get back up. (yes I am extremely out of shape). So Lucas walked over, grabbed my shirt and "Pulled" me back up. Then he walked back to his starting position and came running full speed ahead to tackle me. Too smart that boy! We love Lucas Henry!

Slurpeeee

Today Lucas had his first Target Slurpee... and I'm sure it won't be his last. His new thing is to point and say, "It-sa". It will be interesting to see if next time we are at Target if I get a point towards the Slurpees and a "it-sa".

I tried to get a picture of him with his red mustache, but instead it is just me and my boy...

Happy Friday!

Yummy....

Sara discovered a new favorite thing... Popcorn Girl. So good, so cheap, the PERFECT snack. They have several different flavors. For instance, we had ranch and buffalo wings on Monday at our Bachelor night. Today I needed some chocolate. I am talking serious NEED here people. And who came to my rescue? Who better than Sara and The Popcorn Girl! Sara always knows when and how to swoop in and save the day. Today's combination was chocolate covered popcorn--the perfect sweet and salty combo.

So here we are:
Thanks ladies for helping me today!

Park play Date

We have been loving the beautiful spring weather! When Jude asked us to meet him at the park, how could we resist?

Jude LOVES the sand.... But Lucas only likes it at the beach

Jude and his cute mama Sara

Thanks Jude for such a fun play date!

Lakers or Suns

We have an ongoing debate in our house... Lakers or Suns. I grew up a Laker fan and Andy a Suns fan. Tonight after eating dinner at CPK we ventured over to Old Navy. They now have their basketball T Shirts in and of course I bought a Lakers shirt that I can wear during their three-peat.
(ignore my arms... No idea what's going on)

And naturally, Andy bought a Suns shirt. So the question remains... What shirt did we buy Lucas? By default Suns won because they were out of Lakers in Lucas' size. But fear not dad, once Lucas is old enough to decide he will choose the correct purple... And he'll be saying laker girlsssss in no time!

**Side note... If you ever hear us call Lucas "Sun Boy" it's because whenever we have this debate, Andy always says, "Lucas is a Sun Boy!!" referring to the Phoenix Suns. And now the name has stuck.**

Kipper Time

Lucas is a little bit obsessed with Kipper. He watched it once on Netflix and has been hooked ever since. Of course he still loves Mickey Mouse--but nothing compares to Kipper. The past few times we have watched it I have filmed Lucas because we think it is hilarious how excited Lucas gets. As soon as we turn on the Playstation and he sees the red Netflix screen he knows exactly what is about to happen and he starts gearing up... and on our iPad he knows how to touch the netflix app. Not to worry... he only gets to watch it before bedtime and when mommy showers!

Planting Day

Our seeds have been growing like crazy over the past weeks. So much so that the roots were growing out of the pots. Andy has been working around the clock to get the garden spot ready and pH balanced. So today we spent the afternoon planting (This afternoon was supposed to be spent at pre-op appointments for my tonsillectomy surgery on Friday.... But surgery was postponed. So we gardened instead!).

Placing the plants where we wanted them

Lucas LOVED playing outside... He is such a boy. He played with a crayon and a rock all afternoon.

Notice the dirt on bus lip... He liked eating it. Gag.

Helping mom and dad...

The hard part is over.... Now we just have to cross our fingers that something actually grows! And if everything does grow, we will need some help eating all this food!

Lucas 14 Months

Tonight we tried to capture Lucas' "tricks"- but he wasn't in the mood. I thought it was cute anyway.... so here you go mom! (and anyone else still reading our blog!)
