Play Day

Yesterday I got caught up on house duties, laundry, groceries.... And Lucas was my sidekick. So today we made it all a out him. We put together his water table that was his "good traveler" award... And he loved it!

Then we had a post nap park time. We went all the way to the park... And Lucas wanted was to throw rocks.

Luckily, Kamden joined us with Brewer (Lucas newest friend...not pictured) and they played together.

Notice Lucas new kicks... His feet are a little on the fat side and his Vans weren't cutting it anymore. Our good friend Jude told us about Velcro converse... The tongue on the shoes come completely up, perfect for chubby feet :)

The District

On Saturday I had planned to be in Continuing Ed all day, but by some miracle it was postponed. Sine Lucas and I had been away we were excited to have a family day. So we traveled to The District. I love going to the district.... The best part was the carousel. As of April 25 it is free so we rode it as many times as we wanted. Lucas was in heaven!

We then went to Five Guys Burger and Fries for lunch. They just opened in Henderson and it did not disappoint!

The day left Lucas exhausted!

Pedicures

Today my mom and I went to get pedicures. She has the sweetest lady that does her nails so we took the afternoon off and relaxed. Meanwhile Lucas and Crampa played at home.

Moms turn

I'm up!

It was time for the callus portion and she busted out the dremel...

I was a bit skeptical at first, but she sanded my heels perfectly. They have never been so smooth.

Tonight lucas and grandma read stories together

Lucas loved it! Now he is tucked away and we are watching Date Night.

Salsa and Snickerdoodles

On Tuesday and Thursday morning at Jumbo (Chilean grocery store) they host a salsa class in the parking lot. My mom and I decided to go and learn some salsa. Everyone took it very seriously... many people were warming up before class. My favorite part? They use grocery carts to block off the aerobic area.

Notice my cute mom on the left...

After the second song and the twirls started we got the giggles and had to leave.

Tonight Lucas was ready for bed, but it wasn't bedtime yet. Which means we had an hour to entertain... Usually I would put on a movie, but we had already watched Bambi, Baby Einstein, and Winnie the Pooh... Yikes! So what did we do?

Get a pitcher of course!

Lucas put all his toys in it, took them out, and then ran around with it on his face. Perfect! It worked like a charm.

My mom makes the absolute best snickerdoodles, ever. I have made them hundreds of times and they never taste the same. I ate three dough balls and three cookies, and I'm pretty sure I'll eat three more before the night is over. Yum!

On a side note my mom told me the funniest story tonight. All the mission presidents wives in Chile are good friends. They all reminisce about funny things that happen in Chile. One particular mission wife in the Southern mission wanted to go to a spa to get her legs waxed. She went to a nice spa at a hotel and afterwards she thought to herself, "they did a good job"... She sat up on the table and looked at the materials they were using to wax. There was a bowl full of used waxed, filled with hair from everyone the spa had waxed. They just reuse the same wax over and over again. Can you say gag me with a spoon?? I'm pretty sure I would soak my legs in bleach if that happened to me.

Antofagasta Day 7?

I've lost count of how many days we have been here... We are having too much fun. Today we walked the streets of Anto and chatted away. Once the baby was sleeping we cricutted the day away. We made the cutest "Bienvendios" sign... So cute in fact, I think I'm going to make a "Welcome" sign in the same paper.

Lucas has a new game... Sitting on Crampa's foot. He backs in and sits down when my dad sits down.

Notice the chocolate all over Lucas face. My mom gave Lucas some M&Ms in a cup and he was in heaven.

Tomorrow we are headed back to the mall and teaching ourselves how to crochet.

Happy Mothers Day!

Today we had a great day. My dad had to go to a Stake Conference 3 1/2 hours away so my mom and I decided to stay in Anto. We went to her "home" ward. The cute primary kids sang a mothers day song during Sacrament and it was too cute. The family behind us had a 2 year old and Lucas thought it was fun to crawl under our bench and play with him. Needless to say, he had fun. He took his shoes off and relaxed. My favorite part was the mom behind me. Each time her children acted out she would say, "Silencio!"... I am going to start using that.

Lucas and I outside the church

Grandma and Lucas ( Lucas wouldn't let go of the flower she received)

Then Lucas fell asleep on the way home... Too cute

What more could I ask for? A sleeping baby on mothers day! My mom and I then watched Charlie St. Cloud... I loved it. It was fun to just watch a chick flick with my mommy!

We had homemade Mac n cheese for dinner... And cake pops for dessert!

Yum! I'm pretty sure the Elders will love the leftovers tomorrow :)

Day 6 we spent at home. It was a typical day in the Bruce household. We rented the first season of Damages and all played on our iPads.

We did take a picture with Nery, my moms maid. She is from Peru and is so sweet. She helps my mom with everything from laundry to cooking. I had never seen a picture of her, so we took one a few days ago so you can put a face with the name (Ashley).

Tonight Nery cooked us a traditional Peruvian dinner, "Aji de Gallina"... It is a chicken dish served over a potato and rice with a hard boiled egg. I was very skeptical, but it was yummy.

Today we drove out to La Portada. It is an arch in the ocean that is the mission symbol. It was actually very pretty. If you hike down penguins live on the beach.

We took some pictures with the cliffs in the background... Very pretty.

Then we jumped off the cliff... What is that pose?

This afternoon we went to the feria, of the fair. We shopped for street items, but didn't find that much. But it was fun to experience.

Tomorrow we have to take Andy to the airport. We are sad... But we do get to talk to Elder Bruce so that is a plus!!

Antofagasta Day 5

Day 4 we forgot our camera.... But it consisted of Lider, (Wal mart of Chile), Blockbuster, and pancakes. Yum!

Today we went to 879, a local Italian restaurant. It was yummy!! Lucas and I shared a ravioli and everyone else had pizza. Every meal came with a yummy soup and we had baguettes with a pesto dipping sauce, my favorite.

Typical dad face...

It took three clorox wipes to clean that high chair. And lucas' favorite thing it to have his own cup of food that he can eat from.

Then it was off to the "hand"... No one know who put it there... But it is a must see when coming to Anto, jajaja.

All Lucas wanted was to play in the dirt...

The lovely landscape of Northern Chile

Back home, safe and sound...

We had empanadas for dinner and we just sat down to watch Wall Street with Shia... The first Wall Street is my dads favorite movie.
