Give me a High Five!

Lucas has just started doing "High Fives" and we love it. We got it on video tonight... the first part Lucas can see me... the second part I am hiding under the kitchen table so he wasn't as destracted.
Enjoy!

Wee Ride and some new shoes!

Andy has been restoring an old bike he found on craigslist so he could purchase the Wee Ride and take Lucas biking with him. After many man hours and searching for the perfect helmet, Lucas and Andy now ride together. They both LOVE it... even mommy got in on the action!

My grandma bought Lucas the most adorable shoes last weekent. Lucas got several compliments on his shoes today at church. I thought he looked pretty handsome :-)

Last, but not least, is a video for my mom... Instead of waving Lucas just puts his hand up. As soon as we bring out the video camera he gets shy, so this is the best we could get. Love him!

9 Months Old

Lucas is now 9 months old. Today was the first time I took pictures and thought he looked like a little boy not a little baby. He has the funniest personality and is the happiest boy. Here are a few things I want to remember about Lucas at 9 months:

- He waves "bye-bye", but before he will wave he takes a good look at his hand, then once he observes it he will wave
- He is shy around strangers and will turn his head and look away if anyone says hello
- He pulls himself up onto anything
- He reacts to just about anything. When you say, "I'm gonna get you" he will start crawling as fast as he can away
- He LOVES balls. Big, small, medium, doesn't matter. He will plat with any of them.
- He is wearing 12-18 months clothes... except in Gymboree, still in 6-12.
- He only has 2 teeth
- Loves bottles, pears, squash and apple and oatmeal with cinnamon.

I LOVE 9 months... what a great age!

Lately

We have had a ton going on lately! Prepare for picture overload!

#1: Bea's birthday party- Lucas loved Bea's birthday party at MyGym. He got to crawl around with no one telling him "no". He thought he was one of the big boys.
Lucas and I before the party... I was a bit obsessed with his socks :-)

Cari and Jax

Lucas LOVES Charlotte. I think the feelings are mutual

#2: Ashley, the girls and my grandma all came to town. We had the best time.... eating, playing, swimming, napping, and cricuting! I only took pictures at the shark reef. Ava could not wait to see a big shark. Lucas loved looking at the fishes and Shea loved exploring.

Lucas wasn't so sure about his Shark Reef 10 year anniversary hat

Shea and I enjoyed some ice cream together.

#3: Lucas and the laundry basket- Sunday mornings are rough trying to keep Lucas entertained while we rush to get ready. If it is hard with 1 I can only imagine 4 kids! At any rate, I was in the bathroom on Sunday curling my hair when I heard Lucas talking, but I could tell he was frustrated. I walked out and this is how I found him:

I keep his toys in a laundry basket and he found them and crawled in.

#4: Grandma's house- Lucas and I drove home with Ashley because Lucas had a helmet check-up appointment. We stayed at my grandmas house and had a blast. It was so fun watching Lucas play in the same house I played at as a child with the same toys. This chair has been around since I was little and I think it's safe to say Lucas liked it too! (Please excuse the helmet hair)

#5: Time Out- Whenever Lucas is naughty he gets put in time out. Immediately he goes into this position and just sobs. It is the saddest thing you have ever seen. He also does this position when he gets shy around anyone besides mom and dad.

#6: Harry Potter- It is no secret that we love Harry Potter in our household. My grandma got Lucas this darling walking toy this past weekend and it has turned into a Nimbus2000. Lucas thinks it is hilarious and will crawl over to the toy and straddle it just waiting for take-off.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather! I know we are!

Bath Time!

Yes I know, I post entirely too many pictures of Lucas on our blog. But tonight I took some bath pictures and they were just too cute not to post and remember our fun night! Lucas loves to pull himself up on the bath and then let go and flop into the bath getting everything/one wet. He thinks it is hilarious--as do I. He also loves to suck on the washcloth and drink the water. We love bathes in our house!

Love that curly hair :-)
I just can't get enough of this boy and sometimes I sneak into his room at night and rock him. :-)

Birthday Presents

With 23 nieces/nephews (and 2 on the way!) birthday presents are a must! I try to be original in our gift-giving, and also budget friendly! :-)

Today we are celebrating our cute little niece Beatrice's second birthday and I wanted something she would love. After babysitting her for a long weekend I discovered that she loves wearing aprons. So I set out to make one perfect for her petite size!

I didn't have a pattern so I modeled it after my "Hooter-Hider" pattern. I used brown grosgrain ribbon for the ties and added a cute little owl applique on the front. I paired it with one of my favorite books "The Little Hoot" and voila! A perfect gift for Bea for less than $15!

I LOVE having my sewing machine out because it makes sewing much more fun when you don't have to get it out for each project. I'm sure Andy is thrilled with my new sewing "station"but I love it!

DumDum

So maybe I gave Lucas a DumDum tonight....and perhaps he LOVED it...and just maybe he cried for an hour after I took it away... But I assure you if you showed him a DumDum he would know exactly what to do, and he would be your new best friend :-)
