It's a Jolly Holiday with Mary!

For Halloween this year Andy and I decided to dress-up as Mary Poppins and Burt. We had the best time in character both at the Trunk 'r treat and at Julie's Party. Here are a few pictures from the celebrations!

Amelia was a little scared of me at first. She didn't recognize me and kept saying, "Can you take off your hat?" After a while she warmed up to me and wanted the candy in my bag. Too cute!

6 Quirks!

1- Bedtime 

I love going to bed. The first thing I think of when my alarm clock goes off in the morning is, when I can go back to bed? However, I am very picky on how my "bed-time" routine goes. I wash my face, brush my teeth, pull down the covers. I put my pillow about 3/4 down the bed and hop in. I must have my sheet, blanket, and comforter all the way up to my chin. If I could breathe I would probably put the blankets over my head too.  After I am all covered and warm I can fall asleep. (I have to put my pillow so far down because Andy does NOT like the covers up to his chin, so in order to get the full effect I have to skooch down). **Side note- when I wake up in the morning it looks as though WWII has hit. The blankets are completely twisted and usually taco rolled around me with Andy having no blankets at all. Sorry!

2- Diet Coke 

I drink a diet coke every morning as I get ready. I am kind of like Edward, each morning my throat is burning for a diet coke. (Did I really just say that? I just had no other comparison) This has to be prepared the same way each time otherwise I may as well not even drink it. I buy a bag of Sonic ice and keep it in the freezer for the mornings. I have a glass full of sonic ice, a straw, and a canned diet coke. (Sometimes 2)

3- Socks 

I love socks. I always ALWAYS have cold feet and socks are the only answer to keeping my toes warm. When me feet are cold the only way to get warm is taking a bath. But when I was living in the dorms we only had a shower. My roommate and I would sit on the counter soaking our feet in hot water in the sink to get warm. This was the perfect remedy and afterwards socks were a must.

4- Music in the car

I do not like listening to music in the car. I would prefer to sit in silence and think. I have never been a music buff and if my iPod hadn't crashed I would probably still be listening to Nsync since the last time I updated it was high school. Whenever we get in Patty Andy always has music on, I usually turn it off. He likes the ambiance music provides even if we aren't "listening" to it. Why have it on if we are just going to talk? On trips I listen to books on tape, but even then I usually prefer nothing.

5- Perfume

I love perfume. I have to put it on every time I go anywhere (Even the gym, even though I haven't gone to the gym in over a year, but that is a completely different post). When I don't have perfume on I feel smelly. I love in the afternoon when I get a little whiff of my perfume. I don't slather it on, I always spray about a foot in front of me and walk through it. That way it isn't overwhelming and it gets everywhere. 

6-Projects

I love projects. When I was in school I was always excited to get school projects. Now that I am graduated I have to come up with projects, and it is more fun because they are things I enjoy. Right now I am working on bows and halloween costumes. Whenever I go home for an extended period of time my mom and I always come up with projects to do. Usually they involve holiday pillowcases or having Ash teach me to make hooter-hiders. Whatever it is I am always up for a project!

Staubach Academy

Every year of my life I can remember my dad going to "Staubach Academy" where the entire company went somewhere in the country to have their annual conferences. This past week I got to go to my first Academy and it was really fun! Everyone always talks about Roger Staubach and what a great quarterback he was. At one point in the conference Roger got up and threw a few footballs as hard as he could. I don't know much about football, but let me tell you WOW! I have never in my life seen a football thrown so fast. I can only imagine how good Roger was back in the day. When I was introduced to him I was totally star struck. I didn't know what to say and I truly felt honored to have met him.

All in all it was a good time. The food was fantastic and it was fun to have experienced what my dad has done his whole career while going to Academy.

Andy's Birthday!!

Sorry this is a week late, it has been a busy week!!! Last weekend we went to California for Shea's blessing and also to celebrate Andy's birthday. Here is our weekend in a nutshell:

We got to hang out with Ashley and the girls on Friday and we went to our family favorite--Steve's Charburger-- Yummo! Ava did NOT want to cooperate in the picture

...until she got to pose!

Ava and I went on walk with the worm.... it didn't last that long. I think we made it down the driveway.

On Saturday we made Andy open his one and only present... I know it doesn't sound like fun, one present...

What is it?

New golf clubs!!!! He has been wanting these FOREVER and he finally got them. Actually, the only thing in the box was a new bag, and a blank check that read "New golf clubs".

All Andy said he wanted for his birthday was an A's burrito. For those not familiar with A's it is a little burger joint that sells the BEST breakfast burrito's money can buy. Not to mention good ice, good dietcoke, and a styrofoam cup! When we were in high school we would ditch school just to go to A's.... Anyway back to the birthday...

While we were ordering we jokingly said. "Do you sing for birthdays?" We didn't think a thing of it until they came around the corner with this...

A mickey pancake with a candle! And they sang! It was the best part of the day, not to mention the pancake was pretty good!

After breakfast the boys headed to the golf shop to buy the new clubs while my mom and I went and got our haircut (see post below)

Last thing on our list? Birthday Dinner!!! We went to my parents all-time favorite restaurant, and I think it is safe to say it is mine now too--Cafe R & D. I didn't take any pictures, but it is SO good!

On Sunday we went to Ashley and Christian's ward for Shea's Blessing. Ashley and Christian are in the ward that we grew up in in Huntington Beach. It was fun to show Andy our first house, Grandpa Honey's old house on Mercier lane and we spent many days swimming at, and our old church building. I didn't take one picture of this wonderful day so you will have to look and Ashley's or my mom's blog!

It was a great weekend full of yummy food and great company...can't wait to go back!

The big 2-5!!

Andy turned a quarter of a century today! He doesn't like all the attention, but I wouldn't be a Bruce if I didn't spoil him all day long. Happy Birthday babe!

Ebelskiver

Last weekend we babysat for a close family friend. The mom gave us an Ebelskiver pan as a generous Thank you gift. I have never eaten an Ebelskiver (Filled pancake) nor made one for that matter. Today for conference Sunday we decided to make them and if we liked them we would have it be our new conference tradition. Let's just say they may become our new Sunday tradition because they were SO good. We used strawberry and banana's for our fillings and it was delicious. The pan was from Williams Sonoma and they had a recipe on the back. I cannot tell you how yummy they were. If you would like to come over next Sunday in order to convince you, by all means, the more the merrier!! Go get yourself an Ebelskiver pan!

Is MY Treasure!

A few weeks ago Andy and I went garage sale hopping and found a coffee table and two matching end tables. I wish I would have taken a before picture because you would have NEVER known they are the same tables. Andy did such a good job restoring them and I am now obsessed with our family room. It looks so much better... not to mention Kirkland's was having a lamp sale!
