Who disturbs my Slumber?

Yesterday I had a 12 hour day at work... Suffice to say I was exhausted when I came home. When 8:00 rolled around I got ready for bed and went to sleep. At 2:00 AM their was a HUGE crack and POP went a window somewhere in our house. Naturally, Andy and I wake up and think (worst case scenario) Someone is breaking in! Andy grabs his civil war gun underneath the bed(really, it's from the civil war, aka, really couldn't do much) and tells me to get down while he checks out the house.... we couldn't find the broken window ANYWHERE! After 15 minutes or so we decided to go back to bed. This morning I wake up and find this in our kitchen...

It is a bad picture, but this is a little tiny window that is double-paned and only the inside window is broken. Now first off, no one could fit through that window so we know no one was trying to break in, and second of all, how did the inside window mysteriously crack at 2 AM?

Andy went outside and lying underneath the window was a dead BIRD! What bird flies into MY window at 2AM to disturb MY slumber? (Sidenote, can anyone name that movie?) It was the weirdest turn of events. Everyone should have seen how cute Andy was with his gun, going out to find the culprit.

Darn birds... its a good thing my Grandma Glenda taught me to hate birds (a very long story, but every grandchild of hers hates birds), I didn't feel bad for the little thing this morning.

ALADDIN!! Yessssss i was the first to answer and i even know who said the line. It was the Tiger/Mound of sand that led to all the gold and stuff. Aren't you so proud of me? I can't believe a bird broke your window! Seriously what kind of bird was it? An eagle? Usually when birds come into contact with my windows, the window tends to win (although in your situation i don't think either party involved won). I can only imagine Andy with his civil war gun... I LOVE IT! For Christmas you should get him the matching civil war cap so the next time there is a "break in" he can have the whole ensemble to make sure the coast is clear (and to make sure the Confederates aren't invading).

That is so scary! Loud noises in the middle of the night are never good...at least you had your big man to protect you.

I started giggling thinking about Andy. Reminds me of when Christian hears stuff and walks around outside in his G's, ugg boots, and his handgun with the red laser thing on top. I swear he makes up stories about hearing noises just so he can get his gun out.

DON'T WORRY MOM... IT'S NOT LOADED!

I love that you quoted Aladdin for this, my sister and I used to say that all the time!! And seriously how terrifying, I would be freaking out and think there was someone in our house. haha

I share in your distain for birds, they are dirty loud stupid and a bit arrogant---pigeons especially. Sorry about the window and I have very vivid memories of Drew going after unruly animals--ask him about the big black and white tom cat that terrorized the Tibet kittens --he and my dad were very brave :) needless to say

I don't feel bad for the bir either... imagine that! I guess having a grandma like ours who teaches you to throw rocks at birds and chase them away on the beach has left a big impact on all of us. Andy takes such good care of you!
