I have been against "Blankies" since my brother Trevor carried his around everywhere we went. Not to mention he sucked on it and it was always wet. Well ladies and gentleman, Lucas now has a Blankie. For the past week or so he has not been napping well or sleeping through the night. Sometimes he would just cry and cry and cry in his crib when we would put him down and then as soon as we picked him up he would fall asleep. I am such an advocate of putting your baby in the crib awake so this "trend" we were starting was not going so well.
That's when I realized Lucas was having a little bit of separation anxiety and we introduced the "blankie". My sister-in-law made this adorable blanket and matching burp cloth that Lucas has always loved. Because I am a little bit of a worry wart and didn't want a big blanket in the crib for fear of suffocation I decided the smaller version of the blanket would suit just fine.
Problem solved! Lucas slept for 13 hours last night, took a 3 hour nap this morning, and is now sleeping peacefully. When we put him down he starts to cry, I give him the blankie, he snuggles with it, rolls over and voila! He falls asleep. Here is my attempt at taking a picture of all three of us. The second picture I just took as Lucas was sleeping. I promise I did not move him, this is now how he sleeps. :-) Sorry for the dark picture... he is sleeping in his bat cave.

Miles uses a blankie to fall asleep for his naps and loves to clutch it when he is awake and just hanging out!
I love this post because Chloe can't sleep without her "softy" it's a small burp cloth of a version of a blanket. Instead of lugging around a big blankie I can keep this in my bag until desperate times call for desperate measures while we are out...and of course one stays in her bed...she knows to drop it when I get her out, along with her pacifier. Sofy and paci are only for sleeping. so it's a good thing.
I got a little teary eyed reading this---- so happy to know he likes the blankie and the mini blankie. Lucas is just a love bug:)
