Ramona Tracy Coons

On November 9, 2018 we welcomed Ramona Tracy Coons to our family. It was a long and hard pregnancy chasing after Mable and keeping everyone's schedules. On November 8th my mom came into town and helped me with last minute preparations. That night we had Lucas' first playoff game and it was FREEZING! We bundled up and watched him play at 7:00pm. After the game we came home and got ready to head to the hospital.

Andy and I left at 11:00 pm and grabbed some Jack in the Box. One last diet coke before we headed in to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital at 11:45 pm on November 8th and anxiously waited to be called back. We finally got into our room and they got us set up with my IV and fluids. Since I was Strep B positive I had to have 12 hours of antibiotics before baby was born. At 8:00am my water naturally broke and I was dilated to a 3. With all my other labors as soon as my water broke the baby came within an hour so we were excited that baby would be here soon.

I quickly got my epidural and was feeling much more comfortable. An hour went by and the nurse checked me and I was still only dilated to 3 cm. Every hour the nurse would come in and I will still always at 3cm! Needless to say it was very frustrating! Around 2pm my OB Dr Shoenhouse came in to check me and when she rubbed my cervix a gush of water came out! Apparently when my water had broken earlier in the morning it didn't rupture all the way.

At this point my contractions really started coming on. The nurse checked me at 3:15 and I was only at 4 cm. She turned me on my side to see if that would do anything and at 3:19 I told her I needed to push. She looked at me like I was crazy, but checked me anyway. Sure enough, the baby was crowning and I was ready to push!

She RAN to get the doctor and at 3:22 I started pushing. 2 pushes later, our sweet little Ramona was born at 3:25 pm, November 9 2018 7lbs 13 oz.

It was a very long day of waiting around, but when Ramona decided she was ready she came!

Finally checked in and ready to have a baby!
