Does Tide make a difference?

I like to think of myself as a bargain shopper. I like sales, I only buy things that are on sale and/or a good price. There are things in life I don't mind "splurging" on, like jeans, cute shoes, fresh produce, etc... One thing I have never ever splurged on is Tide. I always want to because in my head I see Tim Gunn with two purple shirts, one that is still bright purple (because it was washed with Tide) and one that is a gross faded purple (the cheap brand, the brand I buy, wait, that is MY faded purple shirt). And then I get to the dreaded aisle and I put the $15.00 Tide in my cart and keep walking... and then every time the $5.00 Purex wiggles its way out and I always switch! I mean seriously, what is an extra $10.00?

Well, let me tell you..
- 10 diet cokes at sonic
- 2 skirts off the 75% off rack at Target
- In 'N Out instead of cooking one night (totally worth it)
- One month subsciption to netflix

and the list goes on and on...

So I always go with the Purex, until yesterday. Yesterday I decided to fight the urge and I spend a little extra to buy the Tide. I just pulled the first load out of the dryer and in all seriousness this is what I did....

Seriously it smelled SO good... I just wanted to lay in it. So, does Tide make a difference? I don't know yet, I do know it smells better, and we'll see if my clothes continue to fade.

I guess no more netflix for this family... we chose better smelling laundry over it.

yes it most definitely does, and i agree there are things that you are always willing to buy, like tide. it smells amazing both liquid and powder, seriously best thing ever is to dry your sheets and hurry and make your bed right after and jump in bed, so warm, clean and smells amazing!!!

i face this dilemma every time i buy laundry detergent, too! i want to buy tide so bad, i just never can bring myself to do it. i will have to experiment like you when my kirkland signature brand (which i always trust wholeheartedly) runs out!

so are we really blogging about this kind of stuff now? Why not our favorite cereal or toilet paper? Yes, Tide does make a difference...

hahaha! wow! I love your rationalizations! I dont know if it makes that big of a difference, but it does smell better!

you guys should continue buying the cheap brand tho...so then you can save all the extra $$$ and put it towards a vacation in HAWAII!!! it could be the best time of your lives, and you could stay with us for free! Good times!

I have to agree, it does make a difference. My parents went to costco for me last week to pick up a few things for us...can't push a cart yet...and they got me some Tide(which wasn't on the list, a little "tip") and I was so excited because I never buy it either...too much $$...and I love how it makes my whole house smell clean. YEAH for TIDE!!

I love a tide smell with a little downy softner--I still smell it on my clothes, sheets, towels days later. I just bought kirklandbrand at costco there was a coupon adn I already miss tide. I bought enough cheap stuff in argentina, tide was insanely expensive there
