The Hair Challenge

I naturally have oily hair. I am OCD about being and feeling clean so I HAVE to wash it everyday. I decided that once I was on maternity leave I was going to only wash my hair once every other day to try and train my hair not to be so oily so I would only have to "do" my hair a few times a week. Plus I heard that it is better for your hair and since I knew I would lose a lot of my hair due to post-pregnancy hormones, I figured this might help?

Why did I wait until maternity leave you ask? Because I knew that on the off day that I didn't wash my hair it would look gross, and gross hair + seeing clients = not so good.

Well, today was the first day I didn't wash my hair. I have been putting it off because I was dreading this experiment. I curled it so it would at least look cute....

It is 3:15 PM and I have already showered and washed my hair. Every time my hair got close to my face I could smell it and I knew that by tonight I REALLY wouldn't be able to stand it so I would take a shower before bed and wash it, but then tomorrow I would be in the same predicament, and washing it that soon close together would not be good either.

Has anyone done this before? Does it work, and is it worth the pain of having gross smelling hair for a few weeks?

I thought about doing the "no-poo" idea. I figured since I am probably as extreme as they come I might just have to go to the other extreme to reach my goal... but I'm not sure I am cut out for it.

I have tried baby powder, bumble and bumble hair powder and everything inbetween. Do I just have to "do" my hair everyday? Does anyone out there in the blogging world have some much needed advice?

Some people just have naturally oily hair and have to wash it every day. My father is this way...

So it could be a necessity... so indulge! haha

Pony. Tail.

It will be worth the effort/ smell - trust me.

I used to have the oily hair problem until I trained it, too. Now I can make it three days if I am want to. But I usually don't.

jilli i had to train my hair and my self to handle it and now i love it. so much easier and faster in the mornings i actually don't love the days i have to wash my hair now. just suffer through right now and keep your hair out of the way so you don't have to touch it or smell it and you'll be so happy you did!

Ha, i'm with your mom on this one. I couldn't look at your hair because i was too busy looking at Lucas' cute little bum.

Anyway, I'm the same way (as far as oily hair goes). I have to wash it everyday. But if i don't wash it i have to pull it back and look like a schmuck the rest of the day. Sucks to be us! Sorry i don't have awesome advice for you. But good luck on your quest!

Oh and another thing. No one can smell your hair but you. And the picture of it on here is darling. So get over the smell and just base it on the way it looks. Spray a few extra squirts of perfume. :)

I have found that when you're on a second day, it looks less greasy when it's pulled straight back rather than parted. So I pull it straight back and put it in a headband (the kind that go all the way around your head) and then put it in a loose ponytail.

I find that the later in the day I do my hair, the better it is the next day. It might be worth it to wait until a later morning nap to shower and get ready so it's not so greasy the next day.

I only shampoo every three days, but I rinse and condition every day. I've found my hair is A LOT healthier and doesn't have that "dirtyhair" smell.

I have this same problem, but it has gotten better as I have trained my hair. It ook a while though, like a year. Before that, I would just wash my bangs in the sink on my off days. Sick, I know. Good luck.

I used to be a everyday wash kind of gal. Then I slowly got crazy and went to an every other day schedule. Now...sit down for this...I am an every 5...yes 5 day washer. Am I sick? Nope...just a really good time manager!

I have to wash my hair everyday otherwise I just feel gross. I really admire those women who can go a few days without, but that is totally not me.
