Today I had to go to the Nevada Real Estate Division to renew my dad's license. This is almost as bad as going to the DMV. I decided I should arrive before 8:00 to be first in line. I knew there was know way I could get me and baby ready by 7:00 AM in order to get to the NVRED before 8:00 so instead I went in my "mom" outfit--aka snuggies-- and baby went in his PJ's, because who would I see at the real estate division? WRONGO BONGO! To make matters worse as we are driving Lucas starts SCREAMING. This is so out of character for him so I start singing, reaching back to give him his pacifier, but he wanted nothing. When we arrived I got him out of his seat and could smell #2 immediately. Everyone talks about "blow-outs" but we have yet to experience one until today. It was up the back, down his legs, on his arms, EVERYWHERE! Of course the only outfit I had in my diaper bag is too small, but I had nothing else, so on it went. He looked like a little orphan child with too small of an outfit on...
So, as I said before, I thought, "who will I see at the NVRED"? I walk in and as I turn the corner I see one of my work colleagues who works at another company. I thought about turning around and going home, but I had already made the trip across town so I got the courage and said hello. His response, "Jillian, I didn't recognize you!"I was so embarrassed! Yes, I know you didnt recognize me because I have no make-up on and am sleep deprived. Luckily, his wife had a baby in December as well so he understands the whole "Mom outfit, no make-up, flustered" look.
I have learned my lesson, always make sure your back-up outfit fits...and never assume you won't see anyone in your "mom" outfit!

Oh my gosh he is so dang cute! Don't worry about him looking like an orphan child -- I recently bought a bunch of clothes at Kid to Kid (used kids' clothing store), and Steve calls Danny an orphan every time I put those old clothes on him. Haha sad.
Good for you for not turning back, I'm sure that I will be able to relate very quickly here. Either way, I still think Lucas looks darling!
I just love that Andy is teaching Lucas gang signs so early on.
And who cares if that woobie is too small on him... it's DARLING. Just tell people it's supposed to be "shant" length.
That is such a cute photo! Don't you just love those blow-outs! Hopefully you won't experience too many of them!!
Jilly I'm so sorry! Blow outs are the worst and there is a reason you leave the too small/unattractive outfit in your bag because you never use it on a daily basis. Grace had a blow out like that and the only outfit i had was all mis-matchy. Sucks to be us. I guess now you can say that you've experienced a blow out... an unfortunate silver lining : )
Found your blog! Thanks again for hanging out today! It was so nice to get out of the house. When you go private, my email is stephvaldez (at) gmail (dot) com.
Thanks for thinking of me at Nordstrom when you were there. Inventory I think is the worst though. Also we just bought our little boy that brown stripped outfit from Old Navy and I am so excited to put him in it. Lucas is so cute and boys look like so much fun! There are sure going to be a lot of boys our sons age though.
LOL!!! love it...
it is a sad sad day when you stop caring about people seeing you in your "mom" outfit... yeah, i'm so "that" mom now... sad.
I remember when Lucas was swimming in that outfit. And I think he looks adorable in it big or small.
Don't every call my grandbaby an orphan.
