Birthday Cake

I just want to remember this night! On Saturday I was going to make Andy's birthday cake for Sunday night. Usually we would have put both kids to bed and I would have stayed up making the cake. After we bathed the kids I asked Lucas if he wanted to help me make Daddy's birthday cake. He enthusiastically said "YES!" So while Andy put Jane down, he and I got to work. We had the best time. I didn't stress that it was 9:30 and way past his bedtime. I didn't stress if he put too much in. I let him do everything! We laughed and giggled... and got dirty. And the next day he proudly told anyone who would listen that HE made daddy's birthday cake.

Andy came downstairs and we didn't hear him and he snapped a few photos...

I need to do this more often... not stress about schedules and messes and being in control and just live! I hope that Lucas is old enough to remember moments like these.
