Today we went to Fish Lake to close up the cabin for the winter season. We love going to Fish Lake for a weekend getaway and it is sad the last visit till spring. The main reason for our visit today was to get the boat out of the marina. Most of you reading this probably know the history of this boat, but for those of you who don't (the Bruce family) let me tell you a little bit about it. The yellow boat was given when the cabin was purchased 18 years ago. Each year Jane says at the end of the season, this is the last year we are using this boat. Then each Spring comes along and the yellow boat is launched once more. Anyways, this season it had a minor hole in the bottom and slowly began to sink. Today we had to get buckets (I shouldn't say we, I didn't do much but stand and watch) and empty the boat to get it to float just enough to cross the marina and onto the trailer. Long story short, this past year really is the last year of the yellow boat. I think the funniest story I heard today was when Jane, John, Cari and Andy went fishing when the motor went out. They had another motor that they began to use, but for some reason it was pushing them in the wrong direction. A nice man named Reuban came to the rescue! He had rented his boat for the day and wasn't really sure what to do so he tied a rope to his son and threw the other end to John and attempted to tow them into the marina. Jane was yelling at Reuban, "Don't tie it to your son!!" so he eventually re-tied it to his boat. Luckily Reuban saved the day! Anyways, here are our last pictures with the yellow boat.
Assessing the situation...

PS.. not to worry, there will be a boat next 4th of July ready to go that will not strand us in the middle of fish lake!!

You are such a trooper and a true member on the family having dealt with that boat. I forgot about that story. My favorite yellow boat story is the one when it flew off the trailer as we were heading back to the cabin and as it is heading toward a group of people and other cabins, my dad shouts," Jammmmie go get the boat." Mary and I laughed about that one of years, geez, I still am laughing. Good times at Fish Lake.
That's an awesome story! Unfortunate, but still really funny!
That is hilarious. I love the picture of John making Andy laugh because he cracks me up and I can only imagine what he is saying.
We need to come to Fish Lake so we can experience the real thing.
Way to go Jillian- if you have had to deal with the yellow boat you truly are initiated into the fam. And if it makes you feel any better- Dan couldn't believe the attachment we had to that thing either. Thanks for putting up with the Crazy Coons' :)
