Monster Mash

On Saturday night we headed over to the Riverwoods for the Monster Mash. It was so much fun. We loved dressing the kids up and it gave us a trial run for Halloween Night! We decided to do a Peter Pan themed Halloween since Lucas loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I was planning on just buying the kids their Halloween costumes. But after going to the different stores, I KNEW I could make them cuter. So off I went to JoAnn's. I of course couldn't find a pattern I loved so I looked at a few and decided to wing it. It took some trial and error, but in the end I loved how they turned out. 

Tinkerbell. I made Jane's with Long Sleeves because the weather forcasted a cold fall night for our Halloween week. I then ordered a yellow beanie and added a pom pom to make it look like a bun. I originally wanted to teach myself how to crochet and make her a beanie... but I ran out of time! I also had crochet shoes... but they were the wrong color. So instead I opted for just some cute pedipeds!

Lucas' costume was a bit more tricky. I first made the coat. I lined it with a brown silk material. I didn't like how the sleeves turned out, so I made some cuffs and added them to the ends. I used an old church shirt and added ruffles to the sleeves and the front. He loved being Captain Hook, who is his favorite character.

Our neighbors were completed our Neverland crew as Peter Pan and Wendy. We could not get a picture with everyone smiling... so here are the best ones...

Hook and Mommy

Darling Nelson family. Have I told you about the Nelson Family? They are the salt of the earth. Seriously. We do not know what we would do without them!! They are the most loving, giving, Christlike family and we feel so blessed to have met and become a part of their lives. Harry and Lucas are best friends... we can't ever leave the house without Lucas screaming for his Harry.
